Egypt in the Spring

Egypt is one of the most fascinating countries in the world, with arguably the richest history across the entire globe. Spanning thousands of years and ethnic groups – ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Arab – a journey back through time would take you past the modern Suez canal, via to the Great Library and Great Lighthouse built by Alexander the Great at Alexandria, to the Pharaonic millennia of the Sphinx and the insurmountable pyramids.

Although many parts are still poverty stricken, today is as good a time as any to visit, especially as Egypt continues to modernise and become safer. However, tourism is still a vital ingredient of the Egyptian economy, and as such every effort to conserve the past has been taken. You can rent holiday apartments for comparatively low prices in very good locations; travel with Wimdu and you can stay with locals for a fully authentic and insightful Egyptian experience.

If you are considering a trip, however, you may be wondering the best time of year to go – and this is almost certainly in the spring, or in the Easter holidays if you have children to think of! For a start, prices are cheaper than in the primetime summer, but also the heat is much more reasonable; you can still expect beautiful weather and a blazing sun, only you don’t have to worry about being too uncomfortable in peak African summertime.

Whether you go to Cairo and see the pyramids, down to Luxor to see the Valley of Kings and Valley of Queens, do something completely different – or even do everything – Egypt is a fantastic and essential travel destination.
